Making a Difference

One of the frustrating things we encounter in our ministry is not being able to share details about the work God is doing through our donors, supporters and staff.  Due to the confidential nature of our work at Heartbeat and our women’s medical center, we don’t often get to share success stories of the people whose lives were changed – mothers who had planned to have an abortion but chose life for the babies, women who received help and coaching on critical parenting skills, women who learned of God’s love for them and accepted Christ as their savior, and women who have found emotional healing from the pain of a past abortion – but they are out there.  They are among us in the community.  We, and you, as a Heartbeat supporter, ARE making a difference.

We wish we could share all the moving stories of the women who pass through our doors so that you would see first-hand how important Heartbeat’s services are and how vital it is that we keep them going.  The next time you see a young mother with a new baby, just think, she could have been a client at the women’s center – once scared and vulnerable, but now enjoying the precious new life she gave birth to.  Or when you see a young family out and about, they may have earned their car seat through Cornerstone’s “Earn While You Learn” program.  Or when you see a new face at church on Sunday, she may be there because one of our patient advocates led her to the Lord.

Some centers do have stories their clients allow them to share, and occasionally we do as well.  But many women are reluctant or embarrassed to have people know they once were so scared, lost, or in need, that they knocked on our door looking for answers or options.  The truth is, there’s nothing to be ashamed of – everyone needs help at one time or another and we are here to help, not judge. (In Matthew chapter seven, Jesus said, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.”)

So while we can’t show you albums full of happy families that we’ve been of assistance to, know that they are out there, and that lives are being changed because of the dedication and love of all our Heartbeat supporters.  Thank YOU for making a difference!
